According to Taiwan’s United Daily on November 17, Taoyuan police seized a cannabis field in Longtan in September this year, with 4218 cannabis plants at the scene. After investigation, Taoyuan District Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that it was true. On the 17th, two men from Wu and Ke and six foreign migrant workers were prosecuted according to the “crime of manufacturing secondary drugs”, and it was suggested that the court continue to detain them.
The prosecution pointed out that the case was reported by the Longtan Branch that someone was engaged in illegal activities in the agricultural land beside the 601 Brigade of the Taiwan Army. After multiple searches, it was confirmed that Wu and others were secretly planting cannabis, and two men with gang background and six foreign migrant workers were arrested at the scene.
It is reported that Mr. Wu has been cultivating marijuana in Longtan since last year, but because he is not familiar with plant characteristics and planting methods, the first batch of marijuana almost failed. This year, he made a comeback, but was caught before harvest.
The police checked that Wu and others planted nearly 600 acres of marijuana (one plateau is about 3.3 square meters), counted more than 4000 pots of marijuana at the scene, and some of the marijuana has been collected and made into finished products, including one batch of dry big fried dough twist and four cans of marijuana tincture (about 4 kg each). As the evidence was clear, they filed a public prosecution according to the “crime of manufacturing secondary drugs”.
The prosecution said that the amount of drugs seized in this case was huge, which affected people’s health and social security greatly, and the criminal responsibility involved in the case was very heavy, so it was very likely to escape and hide. In order to ensure the smooth implementation of the subsequent trial, the court was also recommended to continue to detain.
