The illness of Tuan Tuan, a giant panda donated by the mainland to Taiwan, has aroused concern from all walks of life. According to Taiwan’s Associated Press on November 18, the Taipei Municipal Zoo said that the cat bear “Tuan Tuan” had four seizures in the evening of November 17, and the medical care team gave them anti epileptic drugs to relieve their symptoms in real time and stayed up all night. “Tuan Tuan” woke up this morning (18th) and tried to get up, but his hind limbs were obviously weak, so further observation was needed.
The Taipei Zoo said that nurseries and veterinarians found Tuan Tuan was not in good spirits on the morning of the 17th. He did not want to move, was not interested in food, and did not even respond to the call of the nurseries. Therefore, the kindergarten began to strengthen its observation of Tuan Tuan’s behavior.

At 4:41 p.m. on the 17th, when the nurse saw Tuan Tuan suddenly had epilepsy, she immediately informed the veterinarian that the epilepsy lasted about 1 minute. Later, about 10 minutes later, Tuan Tuan tried to walk, but her left hind limb was obviously weak. At 4:58 p.m., Tuan Tuan suffered from epilepsy again. The veterinarian immediately injected Tuan Tuan with antiepileptic drugs. One minute later, the symptoms of the drug were relieved. Later, Tuan Tuan kept lying on its side. The medical care team kept close observation and got online contact with the medical advisory group and mainland experts.
Tuan Tuan had seizures at 6:28 and 7:33 that evening. In view of the phenomenon that “Tuan Tuan” had seizures several times in a short time, the experts of the medical advisory group suggested that the drug should be continuously administered by infusion first, and then the situation of “Tuan Tuan” should be observed after the symptoms stabilized, and then the treatment method should be adjusted timely.
Taipei Zoo said that because the situation of Tuan Tuan was not stable, the nurse and veterinarian stayed all night to closely monitor the changes of Tuan Tuan. Fortunately, after drug control, Tuan Tuan did not have epilepsy symptoms after 7:33 p.m. on the 17th, and fell asleep under the effect of sedative drugs.
