6 Taiwanese Men Posing As AIDS Patients To Escape Military Service

A man surnamed Chen and other 6 people tried to evade military service, and asked an AIDS patient to do a physical examination on their behalf. The man surnamed Chen planned to get married afterward, but he was constantly notified by the health unit to return to the doctor, so he had to surrender. After the Taipei prosecutor’s investigation, the six people were suspended from prosecution.
According to the investigation by the prosecution, from 2017 to 2019, 6 people including a man surnamed Chen paid 20,000 yuan (NTD, the same below) to 30,000 yuan, and asked AIDS patients to go to medical institutions for physical examinations on their behalf, and were confirmed to be AIDS patients. After the patient, the man surnamed Chen and others obtained a Taiwan-wide medical service card, and then took this card to the designated military service hospital in each county and city for a follow-up consultation, and obtained the qualification to be exempted from military service.
After the man surnamed Chen cheated and passed the test, he planned to marry his girlfriend, but he was repeatedly notified by the local health bureau, asking him to return to the doctor. In order to prevent his fiancée from mistaking him for AIDS, the man surnamed Chen voluntarily surrendered to the prosecution. Prosecutors followed clues to five other men who attempted to evade military service in this way.
The prosecutor found that the AIDS patient who used the identity of a man surnamed Chen and other 6 people to go for a physical examination had died, and he was not prosecuted and punished; the man surnamed Chen and other 6 people came to the case and confessed to the crime. They were given a deferred prosecution. During the one-year period, the man surnamed Chen had to pay 20,000 yuan to the public treasury, and the other five people had to pay 30,000 yuan to the public treasury.
