The consulate statistics of the Chinese Embassy in Canada mainly include the Ottawa Capital Territory, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
The announcement of the Chinese Consulate in Toronto also stated: “At present, the Canadian COVID-19 epidemic has continued to spread. In order to help us better care for young students and provide consular services, the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto welcomes Ontario and Manitoba. According to the outbreak statistics from the Canadian government website, up to now, a total of 7,437 COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in Canada and 89 have died. Except for the Nunavut region, all cases were reported in the remaining 10 provinces and 2 regions of the country. Canada has adopted a series of restrictions on the nationwide response to the epidemic. The Canadian Chief Health Officer said on the 30th that this week will be critical.
The Chinese Embassy’s website on March 31 also published an article entitled “The motherland will always be the strongest backing for everyone-a letter from the embassy in Canada to the majority of overseas students”, encouraging Chinese students in Canada.
According to the article, the ambassador previously issued the first batch of “health packs” including masks and epidemic prevention guides to overseas students through the Federation of Students’ Associations. At present, the “health bag” that embodies the care of the party and the country and contains anti-epidemic materials is being shipped to Canada. Upon arrival, the embassy and consulate stationed in Canada will be distributed to more overseas students in conjunction with the Federation of Students’ Associations to ensure that every student in need can receive corresponding anti-epidemic materials during the epidemic.
The embassy and consulates in Canada also actively support the overseas Chinese delegations in Canada to “pair up” with the local academic federations to assist overseas students.
