The Xichang Municipal Government notified that at 15:51 on March 30, the forest fire prevention headquarters of Xichang received a telephone call to alert the forest fire in the direction of Ma’anshan. According to preliminary judgment, the fire was located at Daying Farm in Liangshan Prefecture. Due to the strong wind, the mountain fire quickly spread to Laoshan.
This afternoon, a reporter from the Beijing News learned from the office of the Ershan Scenic Spot Administration in Erhai Lake that after the fire broke out, the scenic area conducted an emergency evacuation of personnel and closed the fired mountain area. Although no open fire has been seen on the mountain, it is still closed, reminding tourists not to go there without permission. It said that at present the Erhai Sea Area is normally open. Except for some road sections subject to traffic control, other areas can be visited normally.
According to a staff member from Erhai Hotel around the scenic spot, the open fire on Laoshan was seen from the hotel yesterday, but the fire was under control this morning. In the morning, a helicopter fetched water from Erhai Lake and transported it to the mountain to extinguish the fire. As of noon, the helicopter had stopped operating, but it could still smell a strong smell of Jiao.
