The 2022 Winter Olympics is getting closer and closer. Last night, CCTV announced the launch of a new channel—CCTV16 Olympic Channel, which became the world’s first 24-hour 4K ultra-high-definition sports channel to be broadcast on the satellite.
According to CCTV, the Olympic Channel is the result of the strategic cooperation between China Central Radio and Television and the International Olympic Committee. It is also the only communication platform in Mainland China that has been authorized by the International Olympic Committee to use the Olympic name and five-ring logo.
As the first sports channel in the world to be broadcast simultaneously on 4K ultra-high-definition and digital platforms, it includes CCTV Olympic TV channels and digital platforms.
Among them, the TV channel will use CCTV16 as the call sign, and broadcast on the satellite in 4K + HD simultaneous broadcasting mode for 24 hours; the digital platform will cover the PC terminal, APP terminal, H5 and new media platforms of WeChat and Weibo.
According to reports, the CCTV16 Olympic Channel will give full play to the “5G+4K/8K+AI” strategic technical advantages, and strive to create a channel content system of “core sports events + special quality programs + social and cultural activities” and form a brand new image with unique Olympic temperament.
