China’s National Daily Express Delivery Volume Exceeds 200 Million Pieces

On April 25, the State Council ’s joint defense and joint control mechanism held a press conference on e-commerce’s promotion of consumption and economic upgrading. Bian Zuodong, deputy director of the Market Supervision Department of the State Post Bureau, said that China now has more than 200 million express shipments per day, which has basically returned to the normal level before the epidemic.
Bian Zuodong introduced that the current online retail sales of physical goods supported by the express delivery industry have accounted for one-fifth of the total retail sales of social consumer goods, indicating that the coordinated development of express delivery and e-commerce has made great progress. In the process of epidemic prevention and control and resumption of production, express delivery has played an important role in meeting the needs of people’s daily necessities online shopping and supporting e-commerce resumption of production.
“But we also see that there are still some problems in the collaborative development of e-commerce and express logistics, such as the development of rural e-commerce services, express packaging management, and data interconnection.” Bian Zuodong said.
In the next step, the State Post Bureau will focus on promoting the development of three new formats: smart express boxes, public service platforms for express terminals, and integration of warehouse and delivery.
Aiming at some difficulties and plugging problems during epidemic prevention and control and resumption of production, it is necessary to improve the terminal management mechanism and solve the problem of the construction of smart express boxes for couriers to enter the community and closed communities; improve the data interconnection and sharing mechanism to meet The need for new models such as inventory pre-positioning and intelligent distribution of warehouses is gradually emerging; improving the rural security mechanism, strengthening the government’s guarantee for rural express delivery services, and promoting the delivery of express delivery to the countryside and villages.
