At around 00:00 on March 31st, the East China Sea Rescue Bureau received information from the Fujian Maritime Search and Rescue Center. At about 50 nautical miles southeast of Caoyu, Pingtan, Fujian, the cargo bay of a cargo ship “Jianghai Ocean Grand” was in danger of sinking. The five crew members on board needed urgent rescue. After receiving the rescue information, the rescue duty room of the East China Sea Rescue Bureau immediately launched the emergency rescue plan, and assigned a professional rescue ship “Donghai Rescue 116” in the nearby sea area to immediately go to the scene for rescue.
At about 3 am, the “Donghai Jiu 116” vessel arrived at the scene. At this time, rescuers found that the freighter had sunk. The northeast wind at the scene was 8 and the waves were 4-5 meters high. The “East China Sea Rescue 116” immediately launched sea search and rescue. Twenty minutes later, the “East China Sea Rescue 116” found four crew members on the sea surface 0.8 nautical miles southwest of the shipwreck location through searchlights, and released the rescue boat in time to rescue the four distressed people on the sea. At 4:18, the “East China Sea Rescue 116” successfully rescued one crew member from the nearby sea, and all five crew members in distress were successfully rescued.
At present, the five crew members are in good health and have been transferred to the maritime department to cooperate in the investigation of the accident.
