China Telecom And China Unicom Usher In The 2.1Ghz Frequency Band To Build A Faster 5G Network Speed

In the 4G era, China Mobile has crushed China Telecom and China Unicom. In the 5G era, the latter two are inevitable, and the joint construction of a 5G network is the most important link. A few days ago, the Radio Regulatory Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “2100MHz Band 5G Mobile Communication System Base Station Radio Frequency Technical Requirements (Trial)” announcement, which pointed out that in order to meet the needs of 5G applications, to ensure the compatibility and coexistence of China’s 2100MHz band 5G mobile communication system with other radio services .
What does this provision mean? The “3.5G+2.1G” dual-band 5G strategy previously formulated by China Telecom and China Unicom can be carried out in a fair manner, which means that both parties can promote the world’s widest TDD (200M) and FDD (2x40M) spectrum collaborative innovation to the greatest extent Give full play to the spectrum benefits to achieve a 4~5 times improvement in uplink experience and 7~9dB deep coverage improvement
At present, China has allocated relevant 5G frequency bands for the four major operators. As far as China Telecom and China Unicom are concerned, China Telecom got (n78), which is the 3.5GHz frequency band (3400MHz-3500MHz); China Unicom also got the 3.5GHz frequency band (3500MHz-3600MHz) on (n78) From the allocated frequency bands, it can be seen that the frequency bands allocated by China Telecom and China Unicom on the n78 are continuous, which is conducive to the joint construction of 5G networks by the two.
According to previous announcements by both parties, as of October 2020, China Unicom and China Telecom have shared more than 300,000 5G stations, covering all prefecture-level and above cities across the country.
Three “world firsts” have been achieved: the world’s first and largest co-built and shared 5G network; the world’s first 200MHz high-bandwidth and high-performance 5G network; the world’s first 5G network with TDD+FDD hybrid networking. Through co-construction and sharing, 5G network construction and operation costs are significantly reduced. CAPEX is expected to save about 40% and OPEX can save about 35% each year, which fully highlights the advantages of co-construction and sharing.
