Interpretation of the Chinese University Rankings in the World University Rankings
The 2020 US World University Rankings shows that a total of 206 universities in China are on the list this time, a decrease of 17 universities compared with 2019. Among them, there are 176 universities in mainland China, 2 universities in Hong Kong and 21 universities in Taiwan. Although the number of Chinese universities has decreased, compared with 2019, the overall ranking of Chinese universities has improved greatly.
Specifically, Tsinghua University has improved by 8 places compared to 2019 and entered the top 30 in the world. Ranked first among universities in China’s university rankings. Compared with 2019, Peking University has also improved by 7 places, ranking 51st in the world, creating the best results of Peking University.
In addition to Tsinghua University and Peking University, there are 7 universities in mainland China that have entered the top 200 of the usnews Chinese university list, an increase of 2 universities compared to 2019. They are Shanghai Jiaotong University (122), University of Science and Technology of China (124), Zhejiang University (135), Nanjing University (148), Fudan University (160), Sun Yat-sen University (177) and Chinese Academy of Sciences University (197 people).
