On the morning of April 2nd, Chen Kai, a volunteer of the COVID-19 vaccine, ended the 14-day isolation and observation. After CT examination and blood sampling, medical staff told him that everything is normal and he can return to normal life, and he will be reviewed after 14 days.
As of April 2, 108 subjects of the first-phase clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine in Han have completed vaccination, of which 18 volunteers have ended their isolation. Everyone needs to take a CT when they are released, and they are in good health.
Chen Kai, 36, is the owner of a fishing gear store in Wuhan. After seeing information on the recruitment of clinical volunteers for the COVID-19 vaccine on the Internet in mid-March, he immediately signed up. “As an ordinary Wuhan person, during the epidemic prevention and control, I read the news every day, sometimes sad and moved, thinking that I can also contribute to the fight against the epidemic.” He said.
Chen Kai successfully passed the physical examination and screening and became one of the volunteers in the low-dose group, in addition to the middle-dose group and the high-dose group. On March 19, he lifted up his left sleeve and was vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, then went to the designated hotel for 14 days to observe.
“Isolation point has one room per person. You cannot go out or go downstairs. The accommodation is good, the room is spacious and clean. During the isolation period, three meals a day are regularly delivered to the door of our room. .
“On the first day of vaccination, I had a low fever and headache, but soon there were no symptoms. These minor reactions are normal after the vaccine, so don’t worry.” He reported to his family that he was safe every day through a WeChat video.
Every day at the quarantine point, volunteers take temperature, make health records, and freely control other times. Many volunteers, such as Zhu Aobing and Ren Chao, lived daily life through VLOG and became the new “Internet celebrities”. In the video, they broadcasted the latest developments in Wuhan, featured special agricultural products, and introduced Wuhan dialects, winning a large number of “fans.”
Chen Kai found that among the 108 volunteers, there were post-60s and post-00s. Teachers, college students, veterans, entrepreneurs, and business managers have different careers. Everyone chats in the WeChat group, and there are several running enthusiasts who jog in the room every day and “check in” to share with each other.
In the morning of April 2nd, the COVID-19 vaccine clinical research team issued a “Certificate of Appreciation” to everyone: Thank you for participating in the “Recombinant New Coronavirus Vaccine Phase I Clinical Study” as a volunteer. Your great love expresses sincere gratitude and high respect!
Volunteers will also cooperate with the research team to complete a 6-month follow-up and physical examination. Medical staff issued them a new health record manual and told them to pay attention to their bodies and not to be infected with other infectious diseases, so as not to affect the effectiveness of the vaccine.
